Job Summary

Contribute leadership, management, and facilitate projects on a professional level. Stand as a

role model for field employees and encourage them to work safely and productively. Manage and

maintain overall project to ensure quality and timeliness of all mechanical trades. The field

representative for Maddison Mechanical’s subcontractors and first point of contact for the

customer and owner.

Essential Job Functions

  • Promote the Maddison Mechanical business values and culture to our employees


  • Work with Human Resources Manager and Senior General Superintendent (SGS) to recruit Piping/Sheetmetal/Plumbing and Material Handlers


  • Work with General Manager of Operations, Senior General Superintendent, Project


  • Manager and Field Managers on manpower needs, for long- and short-term schedules, as well as other job requirements


  • Supervise Field Managers, crew leads, journeymen and apprentices


  • Provide general supervision for all subcontractors and ensure accuracy and schedule will be met


  • Participate in and coordinate evaluations and salary levels of trade employees


  • Work with Operations Management Team in placement of Field Managers to projects.


  • Promote the Maddison Mechanical safety culture with Field Managers and other


  • Maddison Mechanical personnel as well as Maddison Mechanical’s subcontractors


  • Participate in safety committee. Manage site safety program, evaluate work sites and workers for safe work practices, anticipate problems, coordinate daily safety meetings, and submit safety reports and audits. Preview each work assignment for safety problems


  • Work closely with the Safety Director to assist incident reviews, worker comp injured employees and their return to the workplace


  • Interface with the customer(s) on a constant basis in a highly professional manner


  • Participate in discipline and terminations as required with Human Resources Manager, and Senior General Superintendent


  • Expected to participate in the Maddison Mechanical education process by teaching and/or preparing classes, when needed


  • Advise on rewarding employees for outstanding performance.


  • Lead and train crews in planning, layout, material management, reading and interpreting technical project information in their specific craft. Ensure Field Managers are trained on reading, understanding, and managing variance reports and cost to complete projects.


  • Coordinate apprentice enrollment, attendance, worksheets and quality. Review and assist with quality of apprenticeship program.


  • Act as a mentor for field managers on large high-risk projects and help inexperienced field managers with preplanning, attending turnover meetings, and assisting with CAD coordination.


  • Work with Purchasing Agent as needed on purchase of material and tools. Assists with managing tool inventory. Take-off, order and schedule delivery of materials.


  • Promote the Maddison Mechanical philosophy of Great Client Services


  • Promote the proper use of Maddison Mechanical’s assets.


  • Pre-plan job requirements with the Project Manager, Purchasing, Engineering, CAD,


  • Fabrication Shop and Construction Supervisor.


  • Manager the organization of project material storage, staging, delivery and security.


  • Assume responsibility for productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials & equipment, and contractual performance of the project.


  • Continually improve proper working techniques through training, processes & procedures


  • Promote Maddison Mechanical’s business values and culture


  • Promote proper use of company assets


  • Regular and predictable attendance is expected in order to meet the requirements of this position



  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required with appropriate technical training


  • Ten years journeyman or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or experience in selected trade


  • Journeyman supervisory certificate or master service technician designation as necessary.


  • Five years’ supervisory experience using similar construction methods, equipment and tools


  • May also require other competency certification as necessary and/or required by Maddison Mechanical, customers or code jurisdiction. Examples are Journeyman certification for Denver City/County, Supervisory certification for Aurora and Master Service Technician for MTech.


  • Must be approved to drive per Maddison Mechanical’s insurance carrier


  • Capable of managing multiple projects and crews


  • Ensure quality control and customer satisfaction


  • Extensive safety knowledge and awareness


  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents


  • Effective communication and teamwork skills


  • Advanced knowledge of construction scheduling


  • Ability to control and supervise large groups


  • Strong organization, multi-tasking, leadership and decision-making ability


  • Working knowledge of all relevant national and local codes and company and industry standards



  • Basic computer skills

conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. One will be exposed to dirt,

free from fear of heights and have the ability to work at heights on ladders and scaffolds. Some

work may occur in confined spaces
